Howdy!

Have an event idea or two that you would like to see hosted by our GMs and/or CMs?

Then please provide the following information in this format so that we can read your proposals and see if it may be implemented in the future:

Location of Event: [ingame/discord/ forums]

A step back into time with introductions

So, I was discussing this with Legretta and Kuroneko Saturday night at length because I was genuinely interested in the process so I'm just going to outline some pointers to think about when creating an event. Why? I wanted something that was made public so everyone that *is* thinking about creating an event, should have a good foundation. Of course, this is with the premise that discussions on the planning be made privately. I don't know what info will be discussed or if info will be changed in this case.

So going back to Saturday night for me...

Having that discussion was absolutely great. Player made events seem now to just be within a guild having been dropped its own section in the old forums, and for those forums that had no separate section, it was made in general discussions. However that seem to have bred the idea that *all* event ideas will be used and this is clearly not the case. Kuro, I'm really glad that you did include the "not every proposal is going to be carried out". This is important to note.

But having that discussion cut short was disappointing to say the least. But I can't tell if it was beneficial because I stayed up just to discuss.

Getting down with it and what was said...

I mainly talked about the process which seems to be simple based on what I know of creating events. Don’t use this as concrete because things might have changed since I’ve done them and this is also based on… common sense?:

You create the idea -> propose it to a GM -> Discussions will happen and somewhere in the process a draft will emerge -> GM will propose the idea to the CM -> This part gets a bit iffy to me… CM will go to the PM to check whether prizes are allowed or you have a list of rewards to pick from -> proofreading happens -> Translation happens if needed (in which case for TWS, it’s not needed) -> And poof! An event is born. If I’m wrong, please correct me. This is also based on my experience so I'm pretty sure there will be some sort of variation on it.

Speaking of translations… is there any reason that these events that are currently happening don’t have a translation in all languages? We’re in one server and I personally don’t see a need for the bots that are specifically for @EN, @FR and @DE. As I’ve mentioned before, if I wanted an event that included and EU timezone, I’d have to learn German or/and French.

Added to this is people taking part in the event with a translation. Knowing this because of our small community, are they really needed?

I still reiterate my point that you’re actually looking for “event ideas” to which the reply was to shove this thread in my face and to discuss it here. Which was rude.

So of course my response is to write this adding along all the tips to make it relevant.

The alternative would be to have a multiple choice question and ask “What would you like to see more of? Art? In game? Discord? Forum?” From there you could use the votes and still be hitting ‘what the community wanted’.

Example:

Art might be the one with more votes.

So, as a GM I’d be thinking “okay, art. It’s July right now and what happens in July?”

Well, you have summer so… a ‘draw Furval having fun by the beach’ in a pen/pencil only event or a ‘design a summer set for Furval’ because Furval is naked. Furval the GM, or Furval the mascot? You decide.

On second thought, does that mean Kuro is naked too? Having a cat aesthetic and all.

In the UK, graduation from university is happening. In which case the art event could be your memories of education, or teaching a Furval new ~~tricks~~ lessons with some sort of screenshot event where you're in your terracottage and you can edit said screenshot with other pictures to make it look like a classroom setting. This is from the top of my head.

I really am interested and am looking forward to the events that do get credited as a cause of this. Feedback about this is important and Phan, if you’re still reading this right to the very bottom, I really am grateful to you in making events for the guild. Not many people do think about getting feedback with their guildies about events that have just happened and when I did mine, I only thought about how to improve it when I did plan on having an event that was similar to it.

I'm actually in debate as to whether a GM will use the ideas I've mentioned in the post. As much as I would dislike that I didn't mention all of the events I had in mind. And this post isn't meant to submit those ideas.

I do have other reservations though since I’m a big stickler to have good communication so I can only hope that with this there will be more events happening.

Communication. Kuro mentioned that once the event is live the player won't have anything to do with it. And the reasoning was that "to allow the player to take part" Which also brings to light whether GMs are taking part with events with their main account and this logic absolutely floors me. I do not understand this logic. But that’s another topic.

Now that I think about it more, it didn’t really answer my question.

I cannot stress how important communication is. Since it looks like this lack thereof is the case, you need to be clear in what you say and to have the other person understand it. It's no good having said something to have it understood in a different way. If this isn't made clear you'll find difficulties later on in the process.

In fact there was an instance where this did happen here granted it’s Arc’s event but the clarification was needed whilst the event was live. What else to say?

Change. As mentioned, this is a "proposal". Do not expect that your idea will be translated over exactly into a live and working event. Things may not work out and that's absolutely fine. Subsequently this reinforces the fact that not every event will get the green light. Sorry DeadPigeon but you need to embrace this fact.

These are points to note on their own but have as many details as you can. You need to have a clear understanding of your own idea. Think about what will happen from all perspectives and the questions that may arise.

Things to keep in mind.

I'm not sure if anyone does think of this but how easy is it for the GM to collect entries? In my experience doing an event with Google Forms/Sheets is the easiest as it hides info that needs to be hidden and I can use the sheet directly to sort out the valid and invalid entries.

Forums is great too but the main issue that comes across is authenticating the account. It's good to allow players the opportunity to make amends to the entry and to ask players to change if needed. But this can be slow since these aren't used that often.

Now, this one is interesting to me - Discord. There isn't many TWS events that do use Discord and other games do include it. I don't particularly think of using Discord to host an event so including that in this thread is a good reminder.

Past events.

There are a load of events in the past that you could look at for ideas. Think about what did you like about an event, what didn’t you like and put that in your event. Do you like the three tiered reward? Do you want a participation reward? Do you like having no tiers? Yes, this last one is possible but I usually only use it for very easy events that are simple.

The actual event idea

Do you really want to create an event but have no ideas? Do you have creator’s block? Actually there are quite a lot of event ideas you could use.

Seasonal - A great source and an example is in 1d.

Culture - We all live in different places and it’s obvious that we all celebrate events specific to that country, Kuro’s Fourth of July being an example.

Anniversaries - A GMs birthday may be happening so an event like ‘The cat is out of the present bag! Kuro’s birthday is this month!”

Others - You do have events that are unique. His ‘Weapon Costume design contest’ event is another example.

Kuro, your event ideas are showing something positive. And I really didn’t mean to use you in so many examples but you are a cat and it’s easy to tease.

I apologize ahead of time if I do not address all your points since it was a lot to read through. But I will try to address each point.

Answers to your Feedback

• Believe it or not we actually do the research and plan our events and things we need to consider. However, it important to note that not all ideas fit into this mmo since fps game events don't translate well into mmorpg events This is of course an example.

• Also I do not understand by creating guild events since we do not run events within a guild. If you are happy with your guild leader events then that's great but we cant host events within a guild since that can be favoritism. Guild events are private events that should not have GM nor CM involved.

-correct me if I'm wrong about what you meant by this statement

•Discussion was cut short since it was repeating the same things over and over that had no new information to contribute. I believe it is more efficient to have solid points that build on each other rather than repeat the same things that will get neither of us nowhere. We will both be wasting our time that can be better put into use into something that actually gets done.

• Reasons why not all events are translated is because the GM hosting the event is not proficient in that language and it will take an even longer process to translate every submission (if in forums) or translate in game events to people who do not understand.

- It is not efficient translating during an event especially when I receive PM from players in a language I'm not proficient in asking questions about event. That will only delay event and will not be fair to those participating. I could use Google translate but as stated time will be taken from event to translate whatever they are trying to tell me.

•Reason why we even have language bots for events is because every community (3) has their GMs who also run events. It will seem odd to not have a tag for each language. Just click on the role you are in and you should only receive tags in events you can do.

• We try our best to be as clear as possible but as you can see sometimes we cannot anticipate how players always think or will think. After all we are not mind readers but we do grant clarification if it is asked or if we notice confusion. Since we could easily simply ignore it (which technically we could), but that would be bad communication between both parties. We love community too much to ignore things.

I wasn't actually expecting a reply so soon. I'll try to clear up misunderstandings with each respective point. It's difficult to answer each point without knowing which one you're talking about.

This was written to give players an idea in planning events. I'm well aware that S4 (is a third person shooter, not FPS), does not equate to Tws and I should have pointed out that I do have experience in planning mmorpg events as I was a GS for DMH. In earlier drafts this was mentioned but I decided to leave it out. I was expecting this.

I was merely pointing out that because there is no section for player made events, that these are done somewhere else so the "existence" of this thread is a positive for the CM/GM team. For people that are already doing events in a guild then it's good that there are some ideas to propose.

It wasn't discussing the same things over. Points were made on the process and how they played out and the premise of when the event became a GM event. Because I do love hosting events I wanted to make sure that this was best for me.

This is why you have GMs that take care primarily for another language. For example, if Furval is hosting an event, she could ask a DE GM to check the German submissions and the same for the French ones. There's no need to do the whole thing herself.

(I'll stick these three together since related) Then the answer to that is simple. Ask them to go to a GM that is proficient in the language and ask them to answer for you.

...I'll ignore this one as it supports the above relating points.

Edited: was answered by someone else who gave examples and screenshots of what this looks like and I will talk to CM about this proposal. Will take time however to have this implemented if it gets approval. (Patch is the priority right now).

This isn't what I was asking about. I was merely saying that nowadays events from players were being done in a guild rather than for the whole community.

I had event ideas that I wanted to share which was why I was asking so many questions that night. I wanted to see if this route was best for me is what I'm saying.

Events in Different Languages

About different events and languages. On some events we work together such as monthly login event for senshi but not for other events. It takes cooperation and time for those types of events to be hosted.

- it is important to note that we are simply volunteers who use our own free time (when not busy playing the game, working behind the scenes, and doing real life obligations) to create events.

- it is unrealistic to have every event be translated and have all or some GM available to help with this. We have different timezones and real life obligations that affects when we can work together.

- if we do as you suggested then we will have fewer events and also reward process will be further delayed due to checking if every entry is valid and if people submitted in multiple locations for the same event which we already do

- if you recommend for all to be in one link with all translations in one event thread (this will make judging fairly difficult since we can't vote for entries we cant understand (example: writing events), and many more entries to judge (easier to judge 10 entries as opposed to 20+ when our votes can easily be spread out and possible revoting which further delays process)

- we have a set quota on what we can reward and how often

To be honest the third line made me speechless. It's clearly not unrealistic to do so. If a CM can get their events translated then you can. and other aeria games have had their events translated and a GM is hosting it. It's as simple as creating events earlier and asking them to translate when they can. You've mentioned it before, right? You're planning Halloween events and it's July now. Clearly you're able to get that event translated in two+ month time.

Translating Events from Other Games to TS

Alright fair enough, but it is a fact that some events cant well be translated into other games. Some can but not all. Which is why we do our research and consult with the CM of what things can be done.

Example: we have firework items and had to ask to obtain them to make 4th of July as realistic as possible.

Conclusion

I'm not sure what you meant by brush off comment. Your response had answers to the points you've made. I would need clarification on what you meant by this.

Placeholder means this is just in the process and will be modified as we (the team) and community improve upon this thread. After all, things are constantly changing and improving. What worked then may not work now. But I digress, it will be improved upon.

Though it may be delayed since we are working on gathering information about the patch. (Slightly off-topic)

It would be good to have an event where players can show up their ideas of costumes, and the chosen one would be sent to X Legend to be created. Once the event is over there will be a vote to know which costume the players prefer.

Event topic: Twin Saga's Year Book

Description of event:
1) Each player would have to submit a portrait picture of their character with a quote they like.
2 ) But also, they could submit one/two of their favorite screenshots took during the years.
At the end of the event, every potrait screenshots would be used to make a Twin Saga Yearbook, and the yearbook will also feature the bests screenshots
Everyone who submited a portrait screenshot could get some ACs, and the best screenshots from "2)" ( selected by a the GMs/CMs ) would get a better price in addition to the ACs.
At the end of the event. The Yearbook would be posted on the forum, or maybe it could replace the pantheon we were supposed to have on TWS official website.
Now why did I come up with this idea ? If we had this kind of event we could scroll down the yearbook and remember players we forgot about, and also for fun obviously. Maybe it isn't too late to start.

Description of event: We have a lot of maps, and on them a lot of houses. So this event would consist in picking a senshi and finding them a house which would fit them on any map of Twin Saga, People would have to provide a screenshot of the house a picture of the senshi and explain in a few lines why this house would fit the senshi they picked.

Also when doing cosplay event and such in the future, pls also allow series, movies, comics, video games and stuff, not everyone is watching animes.
